Plants can be a mixed blessing. They are used as food, medicine, and recreational or stimulant drugs. Caffeine is the most common stimulant used worldwide. While some stimulants are considered medicinal in some places, the same is illegal elsewhere.

Black Coffee.

Nothing beats waking up to the aroma of dark, robust, black coffee. We all appear like we can use a cup of coffee after a long day at work or for no apparent reason at all.

Black coffee is brewed from the ground, roasted coffee beans with no cream, milk, sugar, or sweetener. Its strong flavor and bitterness can make you an addict, while the several health benefits it offers are really the frosting on the cake.

Just one cup of coffee, after a long tiring day, is enough to give you that adrenaline rush for your evening workouts. It keeps you proactive throughout the day. The Espresso helps you express yourself better; it gives you that instant energy boost and drive for your workouts; lets you focus more and be creative at work; makes you happy if you’re feeling lonely and sad; helps you think smart; and also helps to get rid of excess water and salt via urination. Apart from this, about 3–4 cups of coffee a day may reduce your chances of getting heart disease, cancer, and several other chronic diseases. On the flip side, did you know too much coffee means too much caffeine, which can make you anxious, and restless; give you headaches, palpitations, dehydration, and so on? Moreover, millions of coffee lovers have no idea that it was once considered a possible carcinogen by the World Health Organization.

Green Coffee.

Green coffee is derived from raw or unroasted coffee beans. Its potential health benefits stem from the fact that it contains chlorogenic acids, caffeic acid, tannins, and so on. Did you know that green coffee can be your best companion on your weight loss journey? According to a research study, 800 mg/day of green coffee bean extract taken for about 8 weeks significantly reduced body weight, BMI (body mass

index), and body fat, along with lowered blood sugar levels and appetite. Chlorogenic acids may also boost fat metabolism, lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and balances hormone levels. Unfortunately, most of the chlorogenic acids are lost when roasted at very high temperatures. However, catching you on the other side, green coffee does contain more caffeine, which when consumed in large quantities can cause side effects like anxiety, jitteriness, and palpitations. If you are allergic to caffeine, it’s best to avoid green coffee.

Cannabis

Infamous as marijuana, joint, or weed, cannabis contains more than 120 components, including cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Within minutes of smoking, you get that high kick, you will find it difficult to concentrate; it will make you dance on the streets; it offers instant relaxation and happiness; and so on. Despite the bad reputation, interestingly, there is also a hopeful prospect for it. Not many are aware that cannabis was used as a licensed medicine until the American Medical Association banned its use in 1942 and revived it again in 1985. According to research studies, cannabis may prevent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in cancer patients; improve appetite and minimize weight loss in HIV or AIDS patients; provide pain relief, and improve sleep quality in people suffering from chronic pain, sleep apnoea or multiple sclerosis; and so on. With cannabis, you can get the best of two worlds: pleasure and health benefits. While cannabis is still illegal in many countries, some are slowly trying to legalize it for recreational and medical uses.
